Oh, the GPS also tracks speed. But you know how technology works. Sometimes there are disruptions in the signal travelling back and forth between the satellite and the phone tucked into a bag on my bike. So if it shows me riding down the road at 100 mph, well, you can assume it's probably just a technical difficulty in the signal. Probably.
